Prologue: First Draft

It was always there i suppose, waiting behind the wall in everyone's mind, the one they all knew was there but no one could open. The other half of the brain was always a mystery with 'unimaginable ability' but no one expected it to be so great.

And no one expected it to be so easlily achieved. A sound, one single sound. They teach us the story in school. How it all began. Dr. Jessica Spire was preforming a research on effects that different decible leveles could have on the human brain. It was illegal to do human research at the time but no one cared after she finished the job. One day she's just tunning up and down and she hits it, the golden mark. We heard it nearly blew her out of her chair, like when you pop your ears and everything becomse so much more clear and easy to hear. Then after a few weeks she begins to notice the differences, she does some more research and next thing you know, BAM! She figures it out, records the sound, and gives the gift to all of humanity, spends a huge amount of her fortune to get a 2 minute commercial on every american channel she knew of, a primetime commercial mind you. She explaines the effects. and before anyone gets a chance to turn of the sound, she plays the sound. Blasts away that mental door in countless americans. Chaos ensues, it gets on the internet and then spreads. Everywhere in the world it is heard. the chaos whas considered the end of the world but like cockroaches we adapt.

After 2 years or so people get used to it, they know they cant put that wall up and deep down everyone knows they don't want to. I don't want to. But next thing you know levitating forks and handheld fireballs become as common as cellular phones and automated catlitter boxes.

Of course simple things like that are the norm. and as with any skill, there are people who specialize in it. People who study and become capable for so much more than that. I myself am a student. i didn't think i would change my life so much but it is starting to. i thought it would just be one class that was easy and could get me four high school credits in two simesters. how i was wrong. But i do end up being wrong about alot of things, my instructor lets me know that. He even hates what i call it. everyone calls it something different. He calls it "Psi", the asians call it "Qi", the spanish call it... i don't know what the fuck they call it. But here, in San Diego, most of us common americans call it one thing. Magic.
